Title: Probing spectral bounds from modular bootstrap
Date (JST): Tue, Aug 04, 2015, 16:00 - 17:00
Place: Seminar Room B
Abstract: Recently a resurgence of interest in the conformal bootstrap program has lead to results in various dimensions. In contrast with the usual techniques deriving from crossing symmetry of correlators, we focus in this talk on a complementary technique in two dimensions known as the "modular bootstrap"--constraints following from imposing modular invariance of the partition function on the torus. After a brief introduction, we present new derivations of upper bounds on conformal dimensions and numbers of states. We conclude by presenting recent work toward a technique for generating CFTs to probe these bounds and mention some intriguing (unresolved) results.
