Abstract: |
Very recently, the IceCube collaboration reported 28 events of high-energy neutrinos. Although more statistics are needed, they are likely to include extraterrestrial neutrino signals. It is the dawn of a new age of neutrino astrophysics. In this talk, considering various astrophysical possibilities, I try to demystify the origin of the observed neutrino signals. In particular, I demonstrate the power of the multi-messenger approach to reveal the origin of the diffuse flux. I may also discuss future prospects for identifying individual high-energy neutrino sources such as gamma-ray bursts and supernovae. |
