Minimal supersymmetric F-term hybrid inflation is strongly motivated from particle physics and cosmology. Ending in at GUT-scale phase transition, it can naturally explain the generation of entropy, matter and dark matter. However, at first glance the recent Planck data seem to disfavor this model. In this talk, I argue that this conclusion does hybrid inflation injustice. Taking soft supersymmetry breaking into account, supersymmetric hybrid inflation must be treated as a multi-field model. The inflationary predictions are then mainly determined by the choice of trajectory instead of by the parameters of the scalar potential, rendering a large part of parameter space in agreement with the Planck data. The corresponding gravitino masses lie in the range suitable for supersymmetric models of electroweak symmetry breaking. |
