| Abstract: | In this talk, I will try to give some overview of the Seiberg-Witten invariants. Given a smooth 4-manifold equipped with a spin structure, one can write down the Seiberg-Witten equation and study its solutions, also known as monopoles. It turns out that the moduli space of these monopoles gives some invariants of the manifold. One of the several applications of the invariants is that one can distinguish non-diffeomorphic manifolds which are homeomorphic to each other. |
