| Abstract: |
Association of some observed long GRBs with energetic type Ic supernovae (SNe) is considered to be an observational evidence that long GRBs originate from core-collapses (CCs) of very massive stars. However, the occurrence rate of long GRBs is much lower than that of normal CC SNe, and the condition required for a GRB to occur from a CC still remains as one of the most outstanding questions about GRBs. Theoretical and observational studies suggest that GRBs preferentially occur in low-metallicity environment. Though observed properties of GRB host galaxies are important clues to investigate the required condition for a GRB to occur, direct measurement of the metallicity is difficult for most of the host galaxies. In this talk, I will explain how to study the metallicity dependence by modeling the GRB host galaxies. |
