Abstract: |
The NASA Kepler Mission has provided a large catalogue of transiting planet candidates from four years of photometric monitoring of nearly 200,000 stars in the constellation Cygnus. In order to measure the distribution of planet properties throughout the local Galactic neighbourhood, we need to understand the biases and errors in the published catalogue. I will discuss some of the steps required to calculate planet occurrence rates, concentrating on the calibration of the Kepler pipeline via the injection and recovery of simulated transiting planets. |
