The SNLS collaboration has invested considerable time and effort in calibrating the MegaCam imager with a sub-percent accuracy. In this seminar, I will discuss the tools and techniques that were developed to reach this goal, and the lessons learned throughout the process. I will notably talk about the control of the imager response uniformity, the optimization of the flux metrology chain, from the fundamental flux standards to the science images. I will also report on the SnDICE project, an attempt to tie the flux calibration of MegaCam to the NIST flux scale, using an ultra-stable artificial light source. |
