The LARS project is an ambitious HST project dedicated to obtain an heritage wealth of data related to a well defined statistical sample of local Lyman alpha emitters. We collect UV, visible and near IR images, spectra, HI data and over a wide range of wavelength in order to constrain, as well as possible the parameters that control the Lyman alpha escape. Ultimately this understanding of the physics requires some new modeling with the goal to extrapolated at large redshift for a better interpretation of surveys of the distant universe. |
