Abstract: |
One of the central objects of study in arithmetic geometry is the étale fundamental group of algebraic varieties, with a particular emphasis on the the fundamental group of curves. Over finite fields a very important property of these groups were discovered by Johan de Jong, now known as de Jong's conjecture. I will talk about a new proof of de Jong's conjecture in the rank two case, and a closely related analogue of Serre's conjecture for function fields. |
