| Title: | Determinant line bundles, chiral fermions, and equivariant cohomology |

| Abstract: | In this talk we start by reviewing Freed's determinant line bundle, which provides a nice setting to understand the relation between the obstruction to the quantization of chiral fermions and (rational) string geometry. We then generalise the construction to allow for manifolds with Lie group actions and in particular discuss the obstruction for a field theory defined on homogeneous spaces. If time permits, we shall also discuss the principal bundle case. |
