Abstract: |
Supernova Refsdal (SN∼Refsdal) is the first example of a strongly lensed supernova. In 2014, the Hubble Space Telescope made observations of the massive galaxy cluster MACS∼J1149.6+2223 and revealed four clearly resolved images of the single distant supernova at redshift 1.49. The Supernova images looked like a well-known quasar ``Einstein cross''. The gravitational lens of the MACS~J1149.6+2223 creates the two additional images of the supernova host galaxy. The model calculations of the cluster gravitational potential predicted the appearance of the supernova in these images, too. One extra image is predicted to have appeared about 17 years ago, the second extra image had yet to appear about one year later the SN∼Refsdal discovery. This prediction was brilliantly confirmed and the fifth image of SN∼Refsdal was discovered in December 2015. In 2015, the largest space and terrestrial telescopes contributed additional observational time to get broadband photometry and spectroscopy for SN∼Refsdal. In this talk I will present the results from our radiation hydrodynamics simulation based on these observations. Also I will discuss possible physical properties of SN∼Refsdal progenitor star. |
