Intergalactic medium (IGM) tomography is a novel technique that uses Lyman-alpha forest absorption from large numbers of background galaxies and quasars to reconstruct the 3D large-scale structure, allowing a unique probe of the cosmic web at z>2. I will discuss the CLAMATO survey that I have been conducting on the Keck-I telescope showing some of the work-in-progress, and will also present some theory work showcasing the potential for mapping the filamentary cosmic web, as well as protocluster and voids, at these unprecedented redshifts. I will then discuss future prospects for this technique, especially using Subaru PFS which will have the potential to map comoving volumes of V~10^8 Mpc^3 at z~2.5-3.5. This will allow a unprecedented study of high-redshift protoclusters, cosmic voids, and filamentary cosmic web at high redshifts, while the comparison with the coeval galaxies also observed by PFS will shed light into galaxy formation and evolution at 'Cosmic Noon'. |
