The formality theorem for cyclic chains provides an isomorphism between the periodic cyclic homology of a quantized algebra of functions on a manifold and the de Rham cohomology of the manifold. We show that this isomorphism is compatible with Getzler's Gauss-Manin connection. Applications to the algebraic index theorem will be presented. The talk is based on joint work with Alberto Cattaneo and Thomas Willwacher. |
