I'd like to introduce our recent work of measuring the dark matter halo masses for atomic neutral hydrogen (HI) selected galaxies. By using the measurements of the 21-cm emission lines of HI from ALFALFA survey, we are able to reliably measure the spatial clustering of the HI-selected galaxies in the local universe. We find that the spatial distribution of the HI-selected galaxies has strong dependence on their HI masses, different from the previous literature. We then build up dark matter halo models using the Halo Abuandance Matching (HAM) method for these HI-selected galaxies. We find that in order to reasonably explain the spatial distribution, the HI-selected galaxies are presumably located in late-forming halos. The predicted HI-halo mass relation can be used to put strong constraints on the galaxy formation and evolution models. |
