Abstract: |
Galaxy clusters are the most massive gravitationally bound structures in the Universe. The extreme masses of these objects make them powerful cosmological probes and useful laboratories for understanding structure formation. In the first half of this talk I will discuss how the masses of galaxy clusters can be constrained by measuring gravitational lensing of the Cosmic Microwave Background, and will present a recent measurement of this signal using data from the South Pole Telescope and the Dark Energy Survey (DES). In the second half, I will discuss how data from DES can be used to study the so-called "splashback" feature in the mass distribution around galaxy clusters. |
