Abstract: |
Gravitational waves from a neutron star merger, GW170817, were discovered by Advanced LIGO/Virgo. The signal was followed by electromagnetic (EM) signals including a gamma-ray pulse, kilonova/macronova, and non-thermal afterglow. In this talk, I will discuss interpretations of the observed EM counterparts in multi-wavelengths, a mildly-relativistic merger outflow producing the gamma-ray pulse and radio afterglow, and the r-process mass powering the kilonova. Finally I will discuss the r-process production in the context of the Galactic chemical evolution. |
