Abstract: |
Cancer spans length scales ranging from nanometers (in aberrant base pairs in mutated genes) to tens of centimeters in palpable tumors. It involves dynamic processes that span temporal scales ranging from fractions of seconds for molecular transport to years of slow tumor progression. In this presentation we discuss new generations of gamma-ray imaging instrumentation with unprecedented spatial, temporal, and energy resolutions that can improve detection and treatment of cancer. We focus on the importance of utilizing all of the data acquired using advanced imaging methods. |
