Abstract: |
The first stars form at high redshifts, in minihaloes of masses of 10^5 to 10^7 Msol. As the natal gas cloud is pristine and has not yet been enriched with metals, the cooling processes are different than in present day star formation. Two large-scale effects are known to effectively delay Population III star formation: streaming velocities and Lyman-Werner radiation. I will review these effects, and show results of our recent cosmological, hydrodynamical Arepo simulations. |
