Abstract: |
Stars with masses 80 - 140 solar mass experience electron-positron pair-creation instability. It leads to rapid contraction and pulsation of the oxygen core known as the pulsational pair-instability (PPI). The pulsation may trigger mass ejection from the core. In this seminar, I will present our recent work on those stars undergoing the PPI. We calculate the evolution of such a star from the zero-age main sequence star until the onset of the Fe core-collapse. We examine the metallicity dependence of the evolution of such massive stars and present the correlation between the progenitor mass and the mass ejection history. We will also discuss its neutrino signal and its applications to the Fast Blue Optical Transient and superluminous supernovae. |
