Last week, we learned what is strong gravitational lensing from Ken, and its applications on constraining the H0 using time-delay measurements from multiple strongly lensed QSO systems. Unlike strong lensing, the weak lensing effect is ubiquitous as long as there are intervening massive objects between the background galaxies and observer. However, this effect is very small, about only a few percent level. With the help of wide and deep imaging survey, like CFHTLens, DES, and HSC-SSP, we can extract this tiny distortion to an unprecedented accuracy. In this talk, I will present you two recent works we have done based on the concept of weak gravitational lensing. One is weak lensing constraints on cosmology beyond LCDM, e.g. a cosmology where dark matter and dark energy interact with each other, and what if there is no dark matter, instead, the gravity alone can function as "apparent dark matter"? Second, from observations, we found several fast rotating clusters, and the rotation of the massive object exerts extra potential by so-called frame-dragging effect. We build an estimator to quntify this effect from weak lensing point of view and see if we can detect this effect from future surveys. |
