Abstract: The baryon acoustic oscillation (BAO) pattern found in the late-time galaxy distributions is widely used as a standard ruler to measure the cosmological distance scale and understand the property of dark energy. While the peculiar velocities of galaxies smear out the BAO pattern and reduce the precision of distance measurements, this effect can be reversed by reconstructing the initial matter distribution from the observed galaxy distribution. In this talk, I introduce a new reconstruction method that can solve some problems in the traditional method, with the intent of improving the precision and reliability of distance measurements in upcoming galaxy redshift surveys.
