Abstract: | Optical clusters have long been anticipated to become a key cosmological probe, thanks to their property of tracing the highest peaks of the initial density perturbations in the universe. This promise, however, has been stifled by the discovery of several serious systematic effects that seem to be unavoidable by nature. I will discuss what these systematics are — projection effects, selection biases, and beyond — as well as how we are attempting to model and mitigate them. |
