Title: | Using Ancient Metal-Poor Stars to Lift the Secrets of Early Universe (Postdoc Colloquium) |
Date (JST): | Fri, Sep 24, 2021, 11:00 - 11:30 |
Place: | Zoom |
Abstract: | Ancient metal-poor stars provide the easily accessible local equivalent of the high-redshift Universe, which is beyond the reach of even the largest existing telescopes. The observed chemical and dynamical fingerprints of metal-poor stars offer a complementary approach to study the early supernovae, the early chemical evolution of the Galaxy, and the history of the Milky Way formation. This approach is known as Galactic Archaeology. This general talk will introduce the Galactic Archaeology field, summarize recent signs of progress and what we have discovered so far, and expectations for the coming decade. |
