| Abstract: | How do binary black holes (BBHs) merge in our Universe? In the new era of gravitational wave (GW) astrophysics with LIGO/Virgo and KAGRA, we are finally in a position to get insight into this fundamental question. I will in my talk discuss indirect observational hints of GW sources forming in stellar clusters and Active Galactic Nuclei (AGN) disks. I will further present new ideas on how to probe the origin of individually dynamically formed BBH mergers using GWs alone by the use of eccentric burst timing measurements, which is likely the only way we can probe the origin of GW sources case-by-case. |
