Abstract: |
Understanding the origins of the pattern of neutrino mixing is one of the major problems in neutrino physics. It is part of the more general highly challenging and still unresolved fundamental problem in particle physics of understanding the origins of the patterns of the charged lepton and neutrino masses, of neutrino mixing, of quark masses and quark mixing of leptonic and quark CP violation, i.e., the origins of lepton and quark flavours. We will review symmetry ideas and approaches to understanding the origin of the patterns of neutrino mixing, mass ordering and leptonic CP violation, and to the problem of lepton flavour, in general. We will show that the prospective data from the JUNO and T2HK (HK) experiments, in particular, will be crucial for performing critical tests of the discussed symmetry approaches. |
