| Title: | Emergent Space-Time and Early Universe Cosmology from the BFSS matrix model |

| Abstract: | To understand the evolution of the very early universe it is necessary to go beyond an effective field theory framework. I will discuss ongoing work in which we start with the BFSS matrix model, a proposed non-perturbative definition of superstring theory, and show how an emergent metric spacetime may emerge from the model. In the resulting cosmological scenario, thermal fluctuations of the matrix model yield scale-invariant cosmological perturbations and gravitational waves. |
