Abstract: |
Entanglement entropy is a quantity which has found application in condensed matter physics and quantum information theory. After reviewing the standard calculation of entanglement entropy in quantum field theory, I consider the "holographic" calculation of entanglement entropy proposed for the AdS/CFT correspondence. I then discuss two recent developments: The first is to extend the holographic calculation of entanglement entropy to holographic models where the bulk gravity theory includes higher curvature interactions. The second is a new derivation of holographic entanglement entropy which may be applied for ertain particular geometries. If there is time, I will also discuss the recent extension of our holographic analysis to calculate Renyientropy.
