Abstract: |
Millimeter/submillimeter-bright galaxies (SMGs) are dusty starburst galaxies (star-formation rates ~ 100-1000 Msun/yr) at high redshifts (z ~ 1-4). It is suggested that SMGs are progenitors of massive elliptical galaxies at present-day universe observed during their formation phase. However, the evolutionary history of SMGs and the relationship with other galaxy populations at high-z and local universe are largely uncertain. We have conducted deep and wide-field 1.1 mm surveys using the AzTEC camera on the ASTE telescope. The surveys covered more than three square arcmin area in total down to nearly confusion limit and uncovered ~1000 SMGs. I present the results of our surveys and statistical properties of SMGs (e.g., number counts, clustering properties) and discuss the evolution of these dusty starburst galaxies at high-z. |
