Abstract:	This week, I will show how Morse theory applied to the Fermat potential gives rise to image counting theorems. Rhie's conjecture will be discussed briefly. Then I will derive properties of two lens models which are frequently used in astronomy, the Schwarzschild lens and the singular isothermal sphere, and (time-permitting) start on the next topic, image magnification.
