Type Ia Supernovae are not only a very important tool for cosmology, but also crucial for galactic chemical evolution and quite interesting in themselves. Despite a lot of progress in the last decades, however, we still don't know for certain, what the progenitor systems of SNe Ia are how they explode. Here, I will give an overview of our latest 3D first principle models of different possible explosion channels for SNe Ia and discuss their strenghts and weaknesses. Additionally, I will discuss violent mergers of binary system of two white dwarfs as progenitors of SNe Ia in detail and show our new results on this promising progenitor channel. |
