Type Ibc supernovae (SNe Ibc) are characterized by the lack of hydrogen lines in their spectra, and believed to originate from massive helium stars. Stellar evolution theory predicts that these helium stars can be produced via various physical processes, like stellar wind mass loss, rotationally induced chemical mixing, and binary interactions. In this talk I will review the past theoretical efforts for modeling SNe Ibc progenitors at different metallicities. Then I will discuss their implications for observational consequences, including the direct observational identification of SNe Ibc progenitors, observational diversity of SNe Ibc, and supernovae from the first stars in the early universe. |
