String theory is a promising candidate for the final fundamental theory of physics. Inflation is a phenomenologically very successful idea. Now, a new field of research called string cosmology is beginning to describe inflation geometrically. There exist three main approaches toward a realistic model of the early universe; the string theorist’s approach, the general relativist’s approach and the cosmologist’s approach. My approach is interdisciplinary in the sense that I try to combine advantages of each approach.
