My current research at Kavli IPMU is focused on the processes which transform galaxies. In particular, I focus on the role of galaxy-galaxy collisions (mergers) in transforming the appearances, dynamics, and internal processes in participating galaxies (such as the rates of star formation and growth of central super-massive black holes). More generally, I am interested in applications of statistics, machine learning, and deep learning to solving astronomy problems.
