I am a researcher specializing in applied statistics and econometrics, with a focus on gender inequality. My research adopts a data-driven approach to uncover structural disparities in society, particularly at the regional level.
My recent work includes the construction and analysis of a prefecture-level Gender Gap Index (GGI) in Japan, integrating multiple indicators across education, economic participation, political representation, and administrative leadership. Through this work, I aim to capture multidimensional patterns of inequality beyond simple rankings.
In addition, my current research at the institute focuses on gender disparities in STEM-related fields of higher education. I examine how the gender gap in science-oriented university enrollment varies across regions and institutions, and how these patterns are associated with broader social and economic structures.
Methodologically, I am particularly interested in how analytical choices influence empirical results. I apply clustering techniques and compare distance metrics to explore latent regional structures, highlighting that methodological decisions can substantially affect interpretation. I also emphasize visualization and communication of statistical findings to both academic and non-academic audiences.
Through my research, I aim to bridge rigorous statistical methods with real-world social issues, contributing to a deeper understanding of inequality and its structural foundations.
