My research focuses on galaxy formation and evolution. I study galaxies across a wide range of cosmic epochs and from multiple perspectives: their structural and chemical development, their co-evolution with central black holes, and the emergence of the first magnetic fields. I use state-of-the-art facilities such as the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) and the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST). Looking at galaxies near and far, my aim is to place our own Milky Way into a broader context - how it formed and developed to eventually support carbon-based life forms, which now wonder how it all happened. I am also interested in developing statistical methods to improve the accuracy of measurements and in using galaxies as probes to study the universe itself.
